Hover Boards: An Insurance Risk?

Hover boards: An Insurance Risk?

Contrary to popular belief, the hover board of our reality can't actually fly.  I know, super disappointing!! The hover boards of today are the latest trend to hit our streets but since hover boards can be used on public road (i.e. sidewalks, driveways, etc.) coverage becomes questionable. Under a standard homeowners policy, a hover board is considered to be a motor vehicle.  Since most of these policies limit coverage for these types of vehicles, this means that there could be no liability or medical payments coverage.  Also, most personal auto policies would not provide coverage for these types of "vehicles." Hover boards have caused quite the controversy due to what some believe is their unsafe nature. Many people have gotten seriously injured while on hover boards.  Just remember that if you or someone you know acquires a hover board, and an injury occurs, there may be no insurance coverage for you!  I think that the proof is in the pudding!
